Students must read, understand and comply with the following information prior to making application to the nursing program. The online nursing program application may be accessed at the link at the bottom of the page.
Application Deadlines
Fall Semester Admission ( Morristown/Greeneville)
January 31st of the year the student elects to participate in the selection process. (Courses taken through Spring semester of the year the student elects to participate will be considered.) Fall acceptance letters will be mailed approximately mid-June.
Spring Semester Admission (Morristown/Sevierville)
October 1st prior to the Spring the student elects to participate in the selection process. (Courses taken through Fall semester prior to the Spring will be considered.) Spring acceptance letters will be mailed approximately the first full week of January.
Career Mobility Admission (LPN-RN Transition)
January 31st of the year the student elects to participate in the selection process. (Courses taken through Fall semester prior to the application deadline will be considered.) Career Mobility acceptance letters will be mailed approximately the first week of April.
Only students who are accepted will be notified by mail.
WSCC Health Programs Immunization Requirements
Due to your potential risk for exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, you may be at risk of acquiring Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection, measles, mumps, rubella, or varicella (chicken pox). Health Programs students must provide documentation of complete vaccinations or titers from their healthcare provider. For varicella, students with disease history may have their healthcare provider document date of disease.
A student may be exempt from this requirement under one of the following circumstances:
- The vaccine is contraindicated for the individual based on guidelines established by manufacturer or Center for Disease Control
- Physician judgment based on the individual's medical condition and history – (risk of harm outweighs benefit)
- Religious belief or practice – (individual must provide written statement affirmed under penalty of perjury).
Accepted students must submit one form of documentation listed below for each disease following admission to a program.
I. Hepatitis B (HBV):
- Documentation of three (3) shot dates.
- Titer showing immunity status to Hepatitis B.
- Documentation from my health care provider stating reason for contraindication.
- Signed written statement affirmed under penalty of perjury stating conflict with religious beliefs.
II. MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella):
- Documentation of two (2) shot dates.
- Titers showing immunity status to rubella, rubeola and mumps.
- Documentation from my health care provider stating reason for contraindication.
- Signed written statement affirmed under penalty of perjury stating conflict with religious beliefs.
III. Varicella (Chicken Pox):
- Documentation of two (2) shot dates.
- Titer showing immunity status to varicella.
- History of disease with date documented by health care provider.
- Documentation from my health care provider stating reason for contraindication.
- Signed written statement affirmed under penalty of perjury stating conflict with religious beliefs.
Students who provide titers with laboratory values inconsistent with immunity are encouraged to get the vaccinations.
Student must submit documentation for medical or religious contraindications.
What should I do if I do not receive notification?
If you know you are qualified:
- a grade of C or better in BIOL 2010/2011 and BIOL 2020/2021
- completed computer competency
- grade point average of at least 2.5 excluding developmental courses
- completed all required developmental courses
Your name is most likely on an alternate list. If space becomes available, you will be notified by the first day of class of the semester.
If you think you might not have been qualified:
Please contact a health program advisor to assist you in planning your course work to increase your chance of success next year.
Advisors are available Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

If you were qualified but not accepted:
You will need to reapply for the next nursing admission period.
- It is the student's responsibility to make sure transcripts are forwarded from transferring institutions to WSCC Admissions Department promptly.
- Only completed applications will be considered for admission.
