Students must read, understand and comply with the following information prior to making application to the pharmacy technician program. The online pharmacy technician program application may be accessed at the link at the bottom of the page.
Application Information and Deadlines
Students applying to the program must meet the college's general admission requirements. Students should indicate Pharmacy Technician (PHAR) as their major. Students must complete the Pharmacy Technician Program Application prior to enrolling, which is available online. In addition to the application, the criminal conviction statement must be submitted to complete the application process.

Only students who are accepted will be notified by mail.
In the situation where there are more applicants than available seats, preference will be given to applicant(s) who demonstrates math proficiency or readiness. If you are 21 years of age or older and have not had prior college-level math classes, you should take the COMPASS test (math portion). For applicants under the age of 21 the ACT/ACT residual math score will be used. Math proficiency is classified as a DSPM 0800 level competency or higher, or comparable ACT score. All test scores must be less than 3 years old. Testing can be scheduled through the Counseling and Testing Office at WSCC, 423-585-6800.
If you were qualified but space was unavailable, you may be placed on an alternate list.
*Students are limited to taking PHAR 1000 and PHAR 1070 only, then continue to summer or fall entry
WSCC Health Programs Immunization Requirements
Due to your potential risk for exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, you may be at risk of acquiring Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection, measles, mumps, rubella, or varicella (chicken pox). Health Programs students must provide documentation of complete vaccinations or titers from their healthcare provider. For varicella, students with disease history may have their healthcare provider document date of disease.
A student may be exempt from this requirement under one of the following circumstances:
- The vaccine is contraindicated for the individual based on guidelines established by manufacturer or Center for Disease Control
- Physician judgment based on the individual's medical condition and history – (risk of harm outweighs benefit)
- Religious belief or practice – (individual must provide written statement affirmed under penalty of perjury).
Accepted students must submit one form of documentation listed below for each disease following admission to a program.
I. Hepatitis B (HBV):
- Documentation of three (3) shot dates.
- Titer showing immunity status to Hepatitis B.
- Documentation from my health care provider stating reason for contraindication.
- Signed written statement affirmed under penalty of perjury stating conflict with religious beliefs.
II. MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella):
- Documentation of two (2) shot dates.
- Titers showing immunity status to rubella, rubeola and mumps.
- Documentation from my health care provider stating reason for contraindication.
- Signed written statement affirmed under penalty of perjury stating conflict with religious beliefs.
III. Varicella (Chicken Pox):
- Documentation of two (2) shot dates.
- Titer showing immunity status to varicella.
- History of disease with date documented by health care provider.
- Documentation from my health care provider stating reason for contraindication.
- Signed written statement affirmed under penalty of perjury stating conflict with religious beliefs.
Students who provide titers with laboratory values inconsistent with immunity are encouraged to get the vaccinations.
Student must submit documentation for medical or religious contraindications.
