Getting to Know … Rhon’Neisha
Taylor
The
5-foot-8 redshirt sophomore
guard from Maplewood High School
in Nashville played a key role
last season in helping the Lady
Senators reach the national
tournament in Salina (Ks.). In
her first four games of the
2008-09 season, Taylor is
averaging 13 points per outing.
How tough was it to sit out your
freshman season with a knee
injury?
RT: It was very tough for me
because I love to play and
compete against others.
Was there a player growing up
that you liked more than the
others?
RT: (Former University of
Tennessee and NFL great) Reggie
White was a player I used to
watch. He was a competitor and
wasn’t afraid to compete. He was
a hard-working player and one
that hated to lose.
To you, what is the most
exciting part about the game of
basketball?
RT: Learning new things that
make me better as a player and
winning as a team.
What is you pre-game routine?
RT: Sit around, eat and sleep a
little bit. I also talk to my
parents and listen to my music
to get me going.
Which one of your teammates
probably sends the most text
messages?
RT: I would have to say Derika
Mooney.
What do you like most about
Morristown?
RT: It is a quiet town. It’s a
lot different than where I came
from.
What has been the most difficult
class you have taken at WSCC and
why?
RT: I would sat Western
Literature. I have never been
interested or excited about it.
It bored me at first, but as I
began to read it, it became
interesting.
What is your favorite meal to
eat when you go back home?
RT: It would have to be roast,
baked macaroni, turnip greens
and cornbread.
What makes you smile the most?
RT: Waking up every morning
knowing I have lived to see
another day.
Does coach (Dave) Kragel ever
show his gentle side to the
team?
RT: Yes, he does. Coach and his
wife (Sharlene) invites the team
over to their house and feeds
us. Many people probably belive
that he doesn’t have a gentle
side, but he actually does. He
cares a lot about us and wants
us to have good lives.
