Statement of
Purpose: The visual arts programs
are designed to stimulate a variety of student interests. As a two-year community college,
our Art Department strives to introduce our
students to several art media in order to assist
students in their ability toward achievement in
artistic goals. Our curriculum presents
basic design theories and experiences in two- and
three- dimensional art production. Artists
and artifacts of past civilizations are
studied to influence individual style.Walters
State's art facilities are incorporated as a wing
of the Humanities Building. The studios are
spacious and conducive for production of a
variety of student artifacts. Students also
have an opportunity to view artifacts of
national, regional, and local artists in the Art
Gallery located in the college's library.
Each summer the Gallery is used to highlight the
works of students that have completed coursework
at Walters State Community College.
