Walters State Community College plans financial aid workshops at high schools within its service area throughout the fall. This month, workshops are planned at the following schools:
•Oct. 4, Cherokee High School, 6 p.m.
•Oct. 15, Chuckey-Doak High School, 6:30 p.m.
•Oct. 23, West Greene High School, 6 p.m.
•Oct. 25 Hancock County High School, 6 p.m.
•Oct. 30, Gatlinburg-Pittman High School, 6 p.m.
The workshops are for seniors and parents at each school. Students attending have a chance to win a $500 grant at each workshop to attend Walters State.
Students planning to attend other colleges are urged to workshop, as information discussed is relevant to most colleges and universities. The workshop will cover the types of financial aid available and the financial aid application process. Those attending will learn about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Tennessee Hope (lottery) Scholarship, state grants, and scholarships.
