The Walters State Division of Community Education plans a variety of non-credit classes in May and June.
“Effective Business Writing” will be offered online May 15. Written communication skills are important in every field. This course will help you develop powerful written documents that motivate readers. The cost for this course is $125.
Two classes are planned at the Walters State Sevier County Campus. “Microsoft Excel – Spreadsheets 101” will meet from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. The cost is $59.
“ServSafe Sanitation and Safety” will meet May 13-14 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This class is based on the National Restaurant Association’s Educational Foundation ServSafe Program, which covers training in all areas of food safety. This class covers federal and state laws governing food service operations. This class is $149.
Three classes are planned for the Morristown campus. “Microsoft Excel Level 2” meets from 8:30 a.m.-noon on May 8 and 15. The cost is $175. “Preventing Workplace Violence” meets from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on May 30. This class outlines proactive steps that you can take to increase your chances of survival and make yourself and the workplace less likely to be a target. The cost of this class is $175.
“Music Production: Recording Your Demo” will be offered for the first time on the Morristown campus Thursdays May 9-June 6. Classes meet from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. This five-week course will explore the fundamental concepts of obtaining a professional demo using any studio equipment. The knowledge gained can be applied to entertainment, informational or marketing recordings. The cost is $159.
“Self-Defense” will meet from 9 a.m.-noon on May 4 and May 11. This class teaches defensive tactics for all skill levels. Learn practical and effective defense techniques. This class is for men and women above the age of 12. The cost is $60.
Two classes are planned for the Greeneville/Greene County area. “Parents, Children and Divorce” is a court-ordered parenting class for divorcing couples. This class meets May 16 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The cost is $50 and class time is 5:30-9:30 p.m. in the Greene Technology Center on Hal Henard Road.
