The Tennessee Career Center at Talbott, an American Jobs Center, plans over 20 free workshops for job seekers during May. These are funded by a partnership between the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Walters State Community College. 

The Tennessee Career Center at Talbott is located in the Alpha Square Shopping Center on West Andrew Johnson Highway. Classes planned this month are:

•Ex-Offender Job Readiness Workshop – May 6, 13 or 20, 10-11 a.m. 
•Computer Literacy Mouse Practice – May 7, 9-9:30 a.m. or May 21, 1-1:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy – May 7, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or May 21, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
•Job Readiness Series 1 (job search, resumes and cover letters, interviews and applications) – May 15 – 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
•Job Readiness Series 2 (goal setting, time management and stress management) – May 8 or May 22, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 
•Employability Skills 1 (conflict management, team building, work ethics) – May 16, 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
•Employability Skills 2 (customer service, career networking and job hunting via telephone) – May 9 or May 23, 9:30 a.m.-noon
•Computer Literacy Electronic Note Management – May 7 or May 14, 2-4 p.m.
•Computer Literacy Electronic Data Base Management – May 9, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy Electronic Slide Presentations – May 14, 9 a.m.-noon, or May 23, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy E-mail Basics – May 14, 1-2:30 p.m. or May 29, 9-10:30 a.m.
•Computer Literacy Internet Basics – May 14, 2:30-4:30 p.m. or May 29, 10:30 a.m.-noon
•Computer Literacy Electronic Business Project Management – May 23, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy Electronic Spreadsheet – May 30, 8:30 -11:30 a.m.

The Tennessee Career Center offers a resource lab with computers, printers and fax machines that job seekers can use at no charge. The Center also houses representatives from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Tennessee Technology Center, Adult Education Program, Walters State Community College and Workforce Investment. All services are free to anyone who is at least 18 years old.
