Welding Levels 1 (Stick), 2 (MIG) and 3 (Heliarc) will be offered this summer at the Greene Technology Center by Walters State’s Community Education Division.
Welding Level 1 meets from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday June 11-July 23. In this class, students receive hands-on training in stick welding techniques. Stick welding serves as a foundation for other types of welding. Students become familiar with the common techniques and equipment used in industry. The cost is $439.
A Welding Level 2 (Stick) evening class will begin July 30 for students enrolled in the evening class. A daytime Welding Level 2 class will also be offered from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday June 20-27. This class builds on the fundamentals of welding techniques including skills, equipment and operations. The class includes the basic concepts of spray welding, selection of joints and weld positions and out-of-positions welding. The cost is $439.
Welding Level 3 (Heliarc) covers the various components of gas tungsten welding. Students learn hands-on how to produce quality welds in various positions on aluminum and steel. A daytime course is planned July 8-12. An evening course will begin Sept. 10. The cost of this class is also $439.
