Fall Evening Classes Planned in Hawkins County
June 25, 2013

During fall semester, both introduction to psychology and probability and statistics will be offered on Tuesday night. Introduction to speech communications will be offered on Wednesday night and composition I will be offered on Thursday night. Classes meet from 6-9:05 p.m.
Classes planned in Hawkins County spring semester include American history and composition II.
“Students can take many of the classes needed for an associate’s degree in general studies here in Hawkins County,” said Frank Umbarger, distance education specialist with Walters State.
“Walters State also offers over 100 online classes. Almost every class is available online or as a hybrid,” Umbarger added. Hybrid classes combine classroom and online instruction. The class may meet two or three times during the semester. The rest of the work is completed online.
Working adults who are interested in completing classes quicker should call Umbarger to learn about College Express. This accelerated program meets one night a week. Students study only one class at a time and can complete an associate’s degree in two years. College Express currently meets on the Morristown campus.
Returning students may register online through Star_NET. First-time students must first complete an application and an orientation. Both may be done in person at any Walters State campus or online at
