Career Center Plans 20 Free Workshops in August

Using the state’s new employment website, www.jobs4TN.gov, is one of 20 free workshops offered for job seekers and other interested parties at the Tennessee Career Center, an American Jobs Center, in Talbott. The Center serves the following counties: Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Hancock, Jefferson, Sevier and Union counties. All workshops are free and are funded by an agreement between Walters State Community College and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.  
For the first time, a workshop will be held at the Sevierville Career Center. “Ex-Offender Job Readiness Workshop” will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1.
The Tennessee Career Center at Talbott will also be hosting two Resume Lab sessions each Friday this month. Sessions are from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m.-4 p.m.  Registration is not required for these sessions. 
Here is the remaining schedule for the Talbott Career Center:
•Using jobs4TN, Session 1 – (attend only one session) Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26, 9 a.m., 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. 
•Ex-Offender Job Readiness Workshop – Aug. 5, 12, 19 or 26, 10 a.m.
•Navigating Social and Professional Networking Websites – Aug. 1, 10 a.m. 
•Personal Branding – Aug. 1, 2 p.m.
•Job Readiness, Basic (includes basic job search, resumes and cover letters, interviewing techniques, impressive applications) – Aug. 6, 13, 20, or 27, 9:30 a.m.
•Successfully Navigate Online Job Banks – Aug. 6 or Aug. 20, 2 p.m.
•Computer Literacy, Mouse Practice – Aug. 7, 9 a.m., or Aug. 14, 1 p.m.
•Computer Literacy – Aug. 7, 9:30 a.m. or Aug. 14, 1:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy Electronic Publishing – Aug. 7, 2 p.m. or Aug. 28, 9 a.m.
•Job Preparation Series (includes communication skills, attitude and self-esteem, and job keeping skills) – Aug. 8 9:30 a.m. or Aug. 15, 9:30 a.m.
•Computer Literacy Electronic Slide Presentations – Aug. 8, 2 p.m. or Aug. 21, 2 p.m.
•Electronic (online) Applications – Aug. 13, 2:30 p.m. or Aug. 27, 2:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy E-Mail Basics – Aug. 14, 8:30 a.m. or Aug. 29, 8:30 a.m.
•Computer Internet Basics – Aug. 14, 10 a.m. or Aug. 29, 10 a.m.
•Computer Literacy Database Management – Aug. 15, 1:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy Electronic Spreadsheets – Aug. 21, 9 a.m.
•Computer Literacy Electronic Note Management – Aug. 22, 2 p.m.
