Over 20 free workshops will be offered in September at the Tennessee Career Center in Talbott, an American Jobs Center.  Workshops range from tips for ex-offenders to using social media to land a job. A new workshop focuses on JOBS4TN.GOV, the new state job posting website. 

The Center is located in the Alpha Square Shopping Center next to Fred’s on Andrew Johnson Highway (11E) in Talbott. The Center serves the following counties: Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Hancock, Jefferson, Sevier and Union counties. All workshops are f funded by an agreement between Walters State Community College and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.  
The Tennessee Career Center at Talbott will also be hosting two Resume Lab sessions Sept. 13 and 20. Registration is not required for these sessions. Sessions both days are 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1:30-4 p.m. 
Workshops planned in September are:
•Navigating Social and Professional Websites – Sept. 3, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
•Personal Branding –Sept. 23, 2-4 p.m.
•Job Readiness Series (includes job search, resumes and cover letters, interviewing techniques, impressive applications) – Sept. 4, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or Sept. 18, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
•Electronic (Online) Employment Applications – Sept. 5, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
•Computer Skills - Electronic Slide Presentation – Sept. 5, 2-4:30 p.m.
•Using JOBS4TN.GOV (new website designed to eventually list all job openings in the state) – Sept. 9, 16 or 23 with sessions beginning at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
•Ex-Offender Job Readiness Workshop – Sept. 9, 16 or 23, 10-11 a.m.
•Employability Skills 1 (Conflict management, teambuilding, work ethics) – Sept. 10, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 
•Employability Skills 2 (customer service, job search by telephone, career networking techniques) – Sept. 10, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy Mouse Practice – Sept. 11, 9-9:30 a.m. or Sept. 17, 1-1:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy – Sept. 11, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or Sept. 17, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
•Computer Skills Electronic Note Management – Sept. 12, 9 a.m.-noon
•Computer Skills Electronic Publishing – Sept. 12, 2-4:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy e-Mail Basics – Sept. 17, 9-10:30 a.m.
•Computer Literacy Internet Basics – Sept. 17, 10:30 a.m.-noon 
•Computer Literacy Electronic Spreadsheets – Sept. 19, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
•Job Search Communication Across Generations – Sept. 24, 9:30-11 a.m.
•Computer Literacy Electronic Database Management – Sept. 24, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
•Winning Resumes for Older Workers – Sept. 25, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

In addition to the workshops, the Tennessee Career Center at Talbott offers a resource lab with computers, printers and fax machines for job seekers to use at no charges. Centers also provide information about the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, adult education, and Workforce Investment Act services. All services are free and available to anyone at least 18 years old.
The Tennessee Career Centers will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day.
