Walters State Community College will host a financial aid workshop at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 at Claiborne County High School in New Tazewell. The workshop is for seniors and parents. Students attending have a chance to win a $500 Walters State grant.
Students planning to attend other colleges are urged to attend workshop, as information discussed is relevant to most colleges and universities. Students who are unsure about future plans should attend the workshop, as many families who think they cannot afford higher education will learn about available financial resources.
The workshop will cover the types of financial aid available and the financial aid application process. Those attending will learn about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Tennessee Hope (lottery) Scholarship, state grants, and scholarships.
