•Speed Spanish – Dec. 11-Jan. 22, $125
This class teaches conversational basic Spanish in six lessons. Learn how to glue Spanish words together to form sentences. Reading and writing are covered along with speaking.
•Creating Web Pages – Dec. 11-Jan. 22, $125
Learn how to create and post your own website using HTML in this extensive, hands-on, six-week workshop. Learn how to format text, build links and use graphics and animation. Also learn some search engine marketing techniques.
•Accounting Fundamentals – Dec. 11-Jan. 22, $125
This course will increase your financial awareness while also giving you new marketable skills. Learn the basics of double-entry bookkeeping, how to analyze and record financial transactions, prepare various financial reports, do accounts receivable and payable as well as common banking activities.
•Mac, iPhone and iPad Programming – Dec. 11-Jan. 22, $125
Learn how to use the free Xcode compiler and the Objective-C programming language to program your own apps that you can sell through Apples App store. This course is appropriate even for those new to programming.
•Teaching Smarter with SMART Boards – Dec. 11-Jan. 22, $125
SMART boards are revolutionizing today’s classroom. These interactive whiteboards create multimedia lessons that engage learners and address diverse needs. Discover how to create outstanding presentations with SMART board and SMART notebook technology. Start at the basics and then discover how to blend text, videos and graphics. This class goes beyond the “wow” factor and discusses specific ways SMART technology can enhance lessons and make lessons accessible to all students.
The following classes meet in the designated counties but are open to anyone.
•The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People – Dec. 18 11 a.m.-1 p.m., $25
This class meets at the Newport Utilities District and includes lunch. Learn about Stephen Covey’s highly acclaimed “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” and how to put those to work in your own life.
•Parents Children and Divorce – Dec. 19, 5:30-9:30 p.m., $50
This is the court-ordered parenting class for parents going through divorce. Parents are encouraged to take it as early as possible in the class, as it offers practical information that can build better communications between parent and child during this difficult process. This class meets in room 306 at the Greeneville Technology Center.
•Trench & Excavation/Confined Space Competent Person – Dec. 19, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., $270
This day is actually split into two individual courses, which may be taken for $135 each. The afternoon session covers workers who may enter or supervise confined spaces. Topics include identification of permit-required confined spaces, use of gas monitoring equipment, proper ventilation, supervisor duties; alternate entry procedures and permit requirements. The morning session covers trenching and underground projects. This class provides training in soil analysis, use of protective systems and requirements when trenching or working underground. Lunch is free when you take both classes. This class meets at the Walters State Greeneville/Greene County Campus.
