The deadline to register for Walters State’s College Express program is Aug. 1.
While College Express is an accelerated program designed for busy, working adults, classes are open to anyone interested in taking night classes in an accelerated format.
“Classes meet one or two nights a week with courses offered in a block format. Students are focused on only one or two classes at a time,” said Cathy Woods, executive director of distance education at Walters State.
This year, College Express is being offered in three majors: general studies,
pre-allied health and clean energy technology. The general studies major includes the general education core courses required in many bachelor degree programs. Pre-allied health is for students planning to enter nursing, respiratory care, physical therapist assistant and respiratory therapy programs. Clean energy technology prepares graduates to work in this exciting, new field.
Students complete an associate’s degree in two years. Part-time students otherwise would need four or so years to complete the degree. College Express
Pre-Allied Health enables students to complete prerequisite courses in a year.
The pre-allied health co-hort actually begins early, starting Aug. 19. Fall semester at Walters State begins Aug. 25. For more information on College Express, contact Cathy Woods, executive director of distance education, at (423) 585-2661 or Catherine.Woods@ws.edu.
